I was in the market for an inexpensive soap dish with a unique look to hold my shave bar. You can get lost in a sea of dishes everywhere you look but this one stood out to me with it's unique look and decent price. I was a bit nervous, as this is a wood piece, that it would be difficult to clean and stand out a bit too much on my lighter colored counter top...wrong on all accounts and I am extremely happy that I found this piece.The look is fantastic as it blends rustic modern look with a beautiful colored wood. There isn't much detailing at all just the indentation to hold the soap and that is it. The 'plank' pieces are secured to two bottom pieces that act as the feet of the dish which very much helps keep soap residue off the sink. I have found that soap doesn't stick or get stuck on the stand like it does with plastic dishes. Clean up has been very easy, I have simply used a wet cloth. This has also held it's shape and color well. I worried that the wood would warp but it has shown no signs of doing so.Price wise you can't go wrong, this is truly a unique piece and stands out from the boring plastic dishes.I am not sure why other reviewers thought this would be a quality soap holder, when I purchased this the price was $0.94 + $2.00 S&H. If you are expecting teak or another high quality wood, you are mistaken. This is a cheap soap holder for a cheap price that ships directly from China. These were my expectations, and so far this holder meets them just fine. I use it to hold a lotion bar, so I can't speak to how it holds up to water. It's pretty cute, it's functional, and it's cheaper than your standard soap dish. I'm not in love with it, but it meets my expectations and does what I envisioned that it would.This is a pretty little soap holder; however, you do need to use something to keep the dripping soap from going through. I thought this came as 2 pieces; one for the soap and one piece to catch the drips. But, it is only 1 piece. Fortunately, I recently purchasAira Soap Saver. BPA Free Soap Lift from Amazon.This is very well made. I like the natural wood. I would have given it 5 stars if there was a bottom.I have bought a couple of these soap holders. They work great for draining the soap and keeping the moisture off it. It must be cleaned with a brush as soap scum does get down into the area between the slats. I have had a fastener come loose from the wooden slat.I was skeptical, but this bad boy looks gorgeous in the bathroom. I never thought I would switch to bar soap on account of the mess, but with this puppy, there's no mess! Hooray! We've had it for about two months now with 4 young kids using it all day everyday, so if there was going to be a soapy, filmy, nasty mess, we'd definitely have seen it by now.Granted, I can't speak for commercial bar soaps. We use a lovely natural kind made the old fashioned way, not the gross stuff you get from walmart. But still, not sure that would make a difference.Beautiful wood, holding up well to the moisture beside the sink and to the wet soap. Workmanship is poor... the two ones that we ordered were both slightly damaged, but we could fix that easily (one had a scratch, and the other needed a nail hammered down). They now look really good - and a lot more expensive than they were!It's wood and holds a piece of soap - 5/5No, honestly it does look nice and is functional. Mine had a nice thick clear coat over it, presumably a fix to the "splintering" that happened on other orders. It does have thin metal rods, much like staples, holding it together from the bottom, as well as wood glue. But thats typical for any wood work. Mine doesn't sit perfectly even, one corner is abt 1/8th inch higher than the rest, but all in all it looks far superior to anything you could get from target or bed bath and beyond in this price range. I'll edit this if it falls apart anytime soon.Not quite what I expected but for less than $5, it'll make a good addition to a tropical themed bath and body gift basket. It's a lot lighter than I expected. Like, a lot. But it is smooth and size is as expected. It nicely holds a bar from Body ShopNice look.
