This is the real deal. A lot of stores have started selling "African Black Soaps" that are jet black, perfectly smooth bars full of all manner of chemicals and additives. That is not what you are getting here. This is an unrefined, authentic and natural soap. It will have grit and maybe some twigs. It is also the best product I have ever used on my skin. It cleared up blemishes that withstood years of benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and other harsh chemicals. It leaves your skin feeling a little tight from a good cleansing, and if followed up with a light moisturizer perfectly balanced and shine-free for the rest of the day. I use it on my face every day, and my body several times per week. I absolutely love this soap and recommend it to everyone.Two things to be aware of, it will develop a white film if exposed to air. It looks a little like mold but it rinses right off with just a little water. The other thing to note is that this product may leave a little bit of sticky residue on the tub. I have had no problems wiping it off with vinegar or a little natural bathroom cleaner, and I'll take a teeny bit of natural soap scum over using harsh detergents on my skin!
