The sample I tried was what spurred me to buy this soap. For some reason I like the tiny sample a lot more. Go figure. This soap lathers well and is mild but leaves a film on my face. I have to use a toner to get rid of any residue, which to me defeats the purpose of a mild soap if I have to use something with alcohol afterwards. It seems like a pure glycerine soap. Not worth the price and I would not purchase again, although I do like other products by DHC.
