Used this for the first time today. The spiraling ridges really make a difference with the lather. It's great because I have a short shaving brush and regular bowls get filled up, with lather getting on the handles and my fingers. With this bowl, the lather stays low and, as I said, the lather is much thicker. Oh, and it looks great!I like this bowl because it's got ridges on the bottom to help my brush whip up lots of lather. It's quality ceramic and just beautiful finish. I've used both hard shaving soap and cream from a tube and the bowl works good with both. Nice addition to my shaving deck.For best results fill with hot water and let rest while preparing to shave.
